Our Story
Welcome to Maas Greenhouses! We are a family-owned and operated greenhouse proudly serving
Sturgeon Bay and the surrounding Door County communities with quality plants, friendly service, and
a love for helping things grow.
Our story began in 2000 when Todd and Chris purchased what was then a local flower shop and
greenhouse. Todd's dream of owning a greenhouse started years earlier while helping a college friend
at his family's greenhouse during spring break. That experience sparked a passion for growing plants
and inspired him to change his college major to horticulture. Together, Todd and Chris turned that passion
into a family business dedicated to serving their community.
As with many family businesses, Maas Greenhouses has been blessed with the support of family throughout the years. Our sons, Trent and Trey, grew up helping in the greenhouse, learning the value of hard work while pitching in wherever they were needed. Todd's dad, Larry, spent countless hours helping customers and lending a hand with planting during the busy seasons while his mom, Mary, helped with deliveries, making sure orders arrived safely to our customers. Chris's mom, Nancy, was always willing to jump in wherever an extra set of hands was needed, and Chris's dad, Wally, used his creativity and craftsmanship to build and improve countless projects that helped our greenhouse run more smoothly. Their love, encouragement, and hard work played an important role in helping our business grow.
Today, the day-to-day operation of Maas Greenhouses is proudly managed by Todd and Chris. Todd oversees the growing operations and continues to share his passion for plants with customers, while Chris works alongside him in the greenhouse and manages the business's advertising, website, and social media, helping connect with both longtime customers and new gardeners.
Over the years, we've expanded by adding several greenhouses and continually growing our selection of annuals, perennials, hanging baskets, vegetables, herbs, shrubs, and seasonal favorites. Every season, we work hard to offer healthy, beautiful plants that our customers can enjoy at home or in their businesses.
In 2026, we made the decision to sell our floral business so we could dedicate our full attention to what we love most—our greenhouse. This allows us to continue expanding our plant selection, improving our growing facilities, and providing an even better experience for our customers.
